About the role.

Working closely with the Group Food and Beverage Manager, you provide support to the homes by covering any long term or/or short term Head Chef vacancies that may arise across the business. In the instance that there are no vacancies to cover, the role will focus on quality and process improvement across the group, in line with Food and Beverage objectives.

Specific duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to;

 

Regional Responsibilities

  • Provide cover for Head Chefs when agency cannot be sourced, duties will include management of all food safety legislation, procedures and policies.
  • Deputise in Group Food & Beverage Manager managers absence
  • Actively supporting the recruitment of Head Chefs, Restaurant Managers and junior positions across the business
  • Project management and delivery, including improvement plans to insure catering standards are met
  • Monitor performance of suppliers’ and working with the Group Food & Beverage Manager to ensure quality and pricing requirements are met
  • Develop and review Menu’s across the business that support cost effective solutions in line with respective budgets

Head Chef Responsibilities  

  • Manage all food production within the Signature home, ensuring that high standards and high levels of customer satisfaction are delivered
  • Maintain health and safety standards I line with internal and external guidelines and ensure all kitchen services are fully efficient
  • Ensure presentation is of the highest quality, meeting both customer needs as well as budgetary guidelines.
  • Support the homes with specific tasks assigned by the Group Food & Beverage Manager
  • Managing all aspects of catering services throughout the home
  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate food hygiene regulations and relevant food safety management system.
  • Ensure the management and implementation of safe working procedures and practices in accordance with Health and Safety legislation. Feedback and have awareness off.
  • Assist the General Manager in the resolution of any complaints concerning the catering service and support investigations and respond to complaints immediately
  • Comply with the HR policies and procedures
  • Act as a mentor to all members of the catering team, assisting them to develop skills and abilities within their specific roles
  • Influence, guide and work collaboratively with all members of the community
  • Attend and update mandatory training as required

Job Requirements

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Minimum City and Guilds 706/1 + 706/2 / NVQ level 2 or Equivalent
  • Supervisory experience and relevant qualifications pertaining to the safe delivery of Food & Hygiene or Catering Services
  • Full clean driving license

Behavior 

  • Flexible attitude to place of work, willing to travel and stay away from home for varying periods of time.
  • Team player, self-motivated, proactive, flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate and manage interpersonal relationships, including influencing skills.
  • Reasonable access outside working hours in emergency situations.
